What Is Included in the Price of the Kitten?
Our kittens are given two Heska Ultranasal Feline immunizations, a parasite fecal check, as well as a FeLV/FIV test. Intranasal vaccinations are used, considering they are safer. Also, no injections are required. Male kittens are neutered. We also provide a guarantee against congenital defects in writing.
Do You Test Your Ragdolls for Heart Disease and Kidney Disease?
Yes. At Midwest Ragdolls, comprehensive health testing is a cornerstone of our breeding program. As a veterinarian-owned and operated cattery overseen by Dr. Jennifer Creed, DVM, we are committed to responsible breeding practices that prioritize the long-term health and well-being of our cats and kittens.
Our breeding cats undergo Ragdoll HCM testing, including DNA testing for known genetic mutations associated with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), the most common inherited heart disease in cats. We also perform ongoing cardiac evaluations, and breeding cats may receive advanced heart screening through echocardiograms (heart ultrasounds) performed by qualified veterinary cardiologists when appropriate.
In addition to heart disease screening, our breeding cats are evaluated for kidney health through veterinary examinations, health history reviews, genetic risk assessment, and ongoing wellness monitoring. These measures help us make informed breeding decisions and support healthier future generations.

Our health testing protocols also include:
- FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) testing
- FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) testing
- FIP monitoring
- Routine veterinary examinations
- Parasite screening and preventive care
- Age-appropriate vaccinations
For added peace of mind, every kitten is backed by our written health guarantee.
We believe transparency is important. You can view health testing information for our Kings and Queens and learn more about our breeding standards, Ragdoll genetic testing, and health screening protocols on our Health Testing & Breeding Standards page.
Are Ragdoll Kittens Hypoallergenic?
Ragdolls are far better for people with allergies than most cats. Allergy sufferers are typically allergic to a specific protein in cat dander. Domestic shorthair cats have the most of the protein, followed by long hair, and finally purebreds. Ragdolls and Siberians are two purebreds that are among the best cat for allergies. Because Ragdolls’ hair is long and silky, they shed less than other animals. To help prevent shedding, we propose frequent combing rather than shaving because the coat takes a very long time to grow back.
Is Declawing A Good Idea?
Declawing is a personal decision and a very hot topic with some animal rights groups. Because of how hateful and venomous these groups are, I will only have discussions with individuals about the pros and cons.
Why Should I Consider a Ragdoll Kitten for Adoption from a Breeder Instead of a Pet Store?
A ragdoll breeder monitors the health of the kittens. The kittens will also often be tested for common feline diseases such as genetic heart or kidney disease, viruses, and parasites. They will also be monitored for their BUN/Creatinine and BNP levels yearly. So, kittens adopted from a breeder are likely to be healthier.

How can I be sure I’m getting my kitten from a real breeder?
The nefarious people running pet scams are very good at pretending. They have many facebook pages and disposable phones and its easy to be fooled. What they don’t have are long standing affiliations such as Better Business Bureau Pages, listing on cat websites like TICA, and a physical address on maps. Midwest Ragdolls is proudly accredited with the BBB, boasting an A+ rating.
